RIOTA is delighted to welcome our two speakers from AOTA:
Kristen Neville, Manager of State Affairs, AOTA and
Heather Parsons, Vice President of Federal Affairs, AOTA
Together Kristen and Heather will share their knowledge to date about the impacts of the recently passed Appropriations Bill and other important federal and state issues.
Heather will share the impact on Medicare and speak about what the recent cuts to the Department of Education’s workforce in the Special Education and Rehabilitation Services Departments might mean as well as any other federal issues.
Kristen will share the State Affairs perspective on what is known about federal actions’ impact on Medicaid as well as other state relevant advocacy areas such as the compact status and scope of practice.
Things are changing rapidly on both the federal and state levels. AOTA’ advocacy work benefits all occupational therapy practitioners and clients. Kristen and Heather will share ways RIOTA and individuals can support AOTA’s efforts and advocate here in Rhode Island.

3) increase awareness of current AOTA advocacy efforts and how RIOTA and individuals can support these on the national and local levels
